Well, YouTube is owned by Google nowadays, right? So they can make ads relevant to your interests, right? Because they make what is basically, one could say, an index of your searches and browsing history?
The main reason this would annoy me personally is that I occasionally show other people youtube vidjas and I tend to be somewhat secretive about my habit of watching chinese cartoon tentacle pornography. Or if I’m actually trying to look up something serious on youtube then it could hypothetically lead to some weird dissonance when I see a shitty ad for an animu and then start watching for example a television interview with David Foster Wallace or something—some of my interests seem to run directly opposite each other and seeing them bleed across each other can make me uncomfortable about all of them (what would DFW have to say about my fondness for or addiction to frequently hollow comfort-food entertainment? and what would the makers of (I dunno) Haruhi or something have to say about what can look like a stuck-up “stop having fun” attitude towards life?).
Of course, this is strictly hypothetical because I use Adblock Plus pretty damn religiously nowadays.

I actually don’t think YouTube’s ads are personalized; I’ve been seeing the same Galaxy S3 ad (I never watch electronics-related videos) for weeks now. Or maybe YouTube’s only showing me that because that’s my personalized ad… I don’t even know anymore.
The sidebars are definitely based on your recent activity, though. SIgning in to YouTube with your friends seeing how much foreign cartoon music you listen to every day? Fun stuff.

Meh. JC didn’t do a very good job, obviously, but I still enjoyed it. I’m kind of curious when they are coming out with another seasons, since last I checked that series is pretty popular in Japan.

I sometimes forget that English voice overs are still a thing that exist. People keep telling me that they are getting better with time, but I still have no desire to go and find out. Japanese suits me just fine (especially as I depend less and less on subtitles, for some shows I can turn them off until they start making more abstract jokes and such. Fun stuff :) ).
