Königliche März ~ And Then the Sun Came Out
I was going to put this into yesterday’s post since it happened yesterday, but Horizon did not fit the mood. This piece does, somewhat, because it sounds hopeful, which is better than sounding silly. See, my grandma is dying, and my dad has flown back to be with her until she dies, which will be in less than a month. Königliche März means ‘Royal March’ – while it’s not a funeral march, if I were to die, I’d rather die with this music than with morbid, requiem-esque sounds.
“’twas a downcast day
our troops’ morale was suff’ring
then, behold! yonder,
the sun came out, and our path
illuminated”
Königliche März ~ And Then the Sun Came Out
[EDIT: Well, whaddya know? Parental controls backfired, meaning that not even my parents can access the computer (where I store my music) anymore, until 4:00. Naturally, you can bypass the time restrictions by modifying the system time in BIOS startup settings, but I can’t tell them that :P So yeah. No composition. Canada Day tomorrow so I’m going to be celebrating, and I’ll update this with the final composition when I get it done. This also means I didn’t meet the deadline, but… well, that’s life.]
Thanks for all your help; this is the final copy (including the .mus! If you wish to use this for any purpose other than listening (e.g. showing other people, attempting to play it which is basically impossible as noone will want to), email me at mushyrulez@gmail.com just cause I want to know).
As for composing, I’ve definitely learned some very important things.
One – NEVER, EVER USE SUCH A HUGE ORCHESTRA EVER AGAIN. The torture of it was too much for me to bear, modifying each instrument against each other. And the font is impeccably tiny.
Two – I don’t know counterpoint. So, I shall learn counterpoint. Königliche März was based not on the individual melodies of each instrument, but on a basic chord structure and additions to it. Because of that, it sounded quite hollow.
Three – I have infinite time. Not infinite time, but I take on so many useless items that if I needed to do something, I will finish it. I could probably finish a month-long project in two days (which I have done before) if I don’t do anything stupid, because I waste /that much/ time.
Finally – COMPETITIONS ARE FREAKING ANNOYING AND SO IS FREAKING PERCUSSION (research things before doing stuff!)
But wait, mushy, why are there two posts today?
Well, today (GMT-wise) is July the First. What does that mean?
It means that Summer has officially started.
Not only does this bring good news for anime fans, but it also means we have time to blog, twice a day (we have four bloggers now).
On a related note, thanks to my obsessive following of comment feeds, I have found an interesting plugin that may or may not work. This allows us to see who’s actually writing my post and thus kill the “MUSHYHIJACK” tag, even though that was pretty fun >_>
Second announcement: Maplestory has an event. Though I knew about it a long time ago, I was busy composing worthless crap so I couldn’t participate. Anyways, it ends on the 13th, and that means that I should try to get to level 40 from level 0 to get some awesome limited-edition item. I can maple 7 hours a day, so it should go smoothly enough (for those who remember my Evan excursion).
And, yeah. Enjoy your Summers everyone; I’ll update (cause I still haven’t watched them!) DRRR and AB with their final posts soon, but probably not tomorrow as I’ve got forums to catch up to~ (Oh, and buying items because of HST starting tomorrow >_>)
Durarara!! 22
…derp. Drank some Red Bull with no effect (that I can tell), got first place for Chinese final exam and overall mark (with one B though), and my mom’s finally finished her test. Pretty good for a #SuicideSaturday, eh…?
…Interesting episode, though it still manages to be a cliffhanger at the end :<
‘Cause Anri’s so awesome, everyone’s chasing her around town. The Dollars again show their 1337ness by having people all around Ikebukuro helping her escape from the Scarves.
She eventually steals that guy’s rabbit suit and continues to run around town. In a rabbit suit.
:/
Kida then grabs her and says how he was trying to save her from his own gang. Which is true, yet Anri doesn’t believe that as she saw Kida ordering them around.
So she runs away again.
In a bunny suit.
:/
She runs around and Horoda comes to beat her up. She’s CORNERED.
Then Horoda reveals that because of her ordering of the brainwashed Scarves, they BEAT THEM UP.
…Shizuo then comes and…
:/
Anri decides to stay at Shinra and Celty’s and becomes SAD because she couldn’t play their AWESOME VIDEO GAME ABOUT MUSHROOMS. Mikado disbands the Dollars, resulting in the 403 forbidden that made everyone SAD. Kida somewhat quits the Scarves, leaving Horoda as the leader. This is SAD.
Finally, Shizuo gets SNIPED
:/
Well. It seems that all three sides’ leaders are leaving, which means either the war has ended because there’s noone to lead the armies, or the war is just going get a lot more bloody with the only remnants of order going away. Yellow Scarves is turning into Blue Square again, with Horoda as the unofficial leader. The members of Dollars probably wanted to pwn the Scarves pretty badly as well; however, Mikado somewhat prevented that (remember the start? The graffiti wall and all that?). Now with both of them gone, I can foresee a real gang war happening.
And Anri’s probably not going to mobilize the Slashers either; once they get found out they’ll just get pulverized by the rest of the Scarves, without even knowing what they’ve done. She’s not that mean to lead everyone to certain pain.
As for this episode… the escape scene was pretty badass. Just like the first meeting where everyone seemed to have cellphones and pwnt Namie, the Dollars’ anonymity have allowed them to pwn the Scarves as well. Even Kaztano and that lost and found girl helped…!
…Izaya’s plan seems to be working perfectly. Removing the three will make the war progress much faster, and injuring (I do hope he’s not dead yet) Shizuo will prevent him from taking out too many people at once.
The only obstacles left to his plan now are Celty, Simon, and that police guy who we haven’t seen since his debut episode. Because we haven’t seen him, that’s exactly why I think he’s going to appear at the finale. Why else would he have a scene in the OP?
What happened to Shinra’s dad anyways? What’s Mika/Seiji’s role (they haven’t really done anything since after resolving the incident, IMO that conversation with Mikado was an intentional attempt to bring them back)? Is Namie going to do something again? Why does the police guy appear in only one episode (I mean, if he’s just going to be in one episode, you could’ve just put freaking Horoda on the OP)?
Finally, the one and most important question.
WHAT GAME WAS SHINRA PLAYING IT HAS MUSHROOMS IT MUST BE AWESOME

…One excel file.
Basically, for my blogroll, I’m only going to put up the sites I’ve O-REW’d. Thus, I’ve put the other sites in an Excel file and will take them out after they’re OREW-D… that way, I can make adding links much less of a pain >_>
…Er, I don’t have much to say now… I don’t have any links either as I haven’t been active in basically anything…
Oh yes. My dad went to China for a business trip, which should’ve meant computer tiem + 1 hour for me, but unfortunately my mom’s taking a vacation during the same week. :<
Thankfully that means I’ll actually work on my project that’s due on Tuesday that I haven’t started yet.

A Filler Post 6
…This is another filler post.
…Why? Because it’s past the deadline for posting already…
Anyways, a couple of notices:
a) my posting will be very erratic, as my mom is taking an important financial exam in June… it should be something like 5 years of study, 1000+ hours of work or something, but she’s doing it in 6 months… so she’s gonna use the computer a lot.
b) I will start to be less and less active on twitter.
…Anyways, I’ll post something else later.
Links 3
Because I can’t come up with a post even if I had an idea… My parents are watching this computer closely, and… well… let’s just say blog-posting isn’t on their top list of “things my child should do on the computer”.
Anyways, I’ll be back to normal posting schedules starting tomorrow, when Spring Break and Post-Spring Break is FINALLY OVER…. so… I’ll write something big.

…translation: I’m failing.
The blog links are halfway done (or rather, quarter-way), and I’ve just left them there to take care of later.
I’m posting a minute before the deadline of the post.
I have at least 10 tabs in my “Reopen Later” list, and I still haven’t watched the FGS and GDC recordings.
I’m a month behind in schoolwork. I haven’t done any math for 3 months.
I have two big out-of-school exams in May. I haven’t started studying for them.
And my desk is.. messy.
To add to this, I’ve become addicted to Heroes of Gaia, I’m still playing Mabinogi, and I want to start 12.5 (but I can’t).
And, a project I haven’t started on is due in the next month.
Finally, my mom is pretty darn angry at me for wasting my time making this post. Thankfully, she doesn’t know this is a blog. Just looked at the “I’m a month behind in schoolwork” part, which made her pretty mad :P
Anyways, links for today (minimal):

IRL PWN00bz
..This is a rant, as I don’t have any links…
…First of all, I’d like to point out that the FlashGameLicense Development Competition #5 and #6 is starting, tomorrow, at 1800 GMT (10:00 am, for me)…! Which is gonna be awesome! And I’m gonna attempt to mutilate a tutorial so that it’s actually my own creation! Without using any of the tutorial’s original code! :D
…Now that the :Ds and enthusiasm is gone, the rant.
[warning, the rant sounds more like a whine than a rant]
…So, this rant is about… well… relatives, basically.
…Well, recently, my mom has registered for a financial exam. Since, well, she’s my mom, my brother and I had to help her with that, so we did. …Unfortunately, my brother took charge of the operation, and used the computer I was using at the moment to do those tasks. In the process, he closed my browser, and somehow, made it impossible to reopen the tabs I closed. So, I was pretty angry at that, but that was no matter. …Anyways, my mom had to figure out how to get to a certain room in a certain building to take her exam (which is tomorrow). I told my brother that all she had to do would be to get inside the building and ask the receptionist (after all, a couple hundred more people are taking the test) for directions; but no, he obviously had to use google to search for a detailed map of how to TAKE THE ELEVATOR and ENTER A ROOM. What’s more, he also had to print the google map of the location of the building and the map, which he then spent 20 minutes polishing with MSPaint, which basically consisted of finding a print screen software, seeing my computer doesn’t have it, searching for another one on google, finding that my computer has a print screen software, using it, copying it to paint, closing paint, opening paint, erasing the text and unnecessary street names, copying it, closing paint, opening adobe reader, opening paint, copying it, saving it as a pdf, closing paint, opening the file in adobe reader, cutting it in half, copying the file to paint, cutting the edges, copying the file to adobe reader…
…and thus it continued for a very, very, long time. …And then he printed it! Hurrah! However, now my mom wants the review sheets for the test. After searching, I determined that the only review sheets costs at least $85, and thus I thought that was enough. But obviously, my brother had to continue searching.
…and searching.
..and searching, until he realized that the ONLY REVIEW SHEETS COSTS AT LEAST $85! Hmm… I SENSE A COINCIDENCE HERE. …And then, my mom realized she had another exam. In June. And so, she wanted the locations for that. …After a lot of searching, we determined the locations and the price for the exam, just to find that everything we’d looked at was for the American (hint, we’re Canadian) exam..! Finally, after some more searching, we found an article that stated everything we needed to know, and thus wasted another two sheets of paper printing the whole article out (did I mention that the title of the article took one sheet?) …So, after that, we gave the sheets to my mom. And she gets mad at us for being so slow.
…Now, here, I have two reasons why I’m sorta rant-y; one, most of the actions of my brother were redundant. Two, we were helping her sort out some tasks, and thus she should have no reason to get mad at us, for doing /her/ work.
…To me, my mom felt a lot like a n00b, for making us do very simple work, and then getting mad at the speed of it (which she obviously could have typed faster, herself, but she didn’t). However, instead of shunning her like normal n00bs, we were forced to obey her, as she had enough power to.. do stuff.
Which is to say, if you have that much power, and you can search it up faster than us, then WHY DON’T YOU? I mean, we’re doing you a favour here by searching it for you, saving some time, but why do you still have to be so mad at it? It’s not /your/ time we’re wasting, it’s our own time, thank you very much.
To continue this, I’d like to extend this to all people who you do work for that get mad at you. I mean, you’re doing work FOR THEM. What right do they have to get mad at you? Especially if the work you’re doing is voluntary or for free. I’ve met people like that, who shout at you for not finishing the work correctly/on time (which I would feel bad for, if it was a job), except, it was /voluntary/. Sure, we didn’t do it correctly, and we had to use a bit of OUR time to correct that mistake. Still, NONE OF THAT TIME was YOURS. So why should you get mad at us?
I suppose this made a little bit of sense, but I have no idea now…
EDIT: Well, it’s Saturday now, with… 16 minutes until the competition! AND FGL IS DOWN LOLWTF O_O_O___O_O_O_O
Procrastination is Productive
Alright, so, why didn’t I have time for links “yesterday”…?
The answer is simple; my parents finally noticed that 5 hours on the computer a day and sleeping at 1:00 isn’t exactly healthy for me.
…So, they asked me what I did on the computer.
Me, being, me, had no answer.
…In reality, I was merely procrastinating (I’m looking at you, twitterers and kongregators >:O).
…Thus, they decided that this procrastinating was, obviously, bad for me. I got a pretty harsh lecture and was sent off to bed, post unfinished.
…Obviously, to me this was a major blow to my “happiness” and such. Not that I had any to begin with (I’m trying my best to be completely neutral/normal in all aspects)…
While I was sleeping, I had to become philosophical, because I wasn’t philosophical long enough for the past year.
…It all came to me completely and suddenly; this is a turn for the better.
…Why?
Firstly, I will now finally have the stress and harshness of my parents to support me in getting my homework completed. I’ve never had the pressure of that before (for very long, anyways), and so always got my assignments in late and in horrible quality.
Secondly, I will have to be more efficient in what I do during those vital 2 hours that I have per day while my parents are gone. This is basically squishing my 5-hours worth of time into 2; hard, but it’ll improve my productivity (for yes, I’m thinking of productive procrastination).
Thirdly, my eyesight might come back to me. Completely tentative, however.
And finally, this, where it should actually hinder my goal/dream of becoming a flash game designer (and drinking lots of beer and the like), it’s actually supporting it by strengthening my belief that PROCRASTINATION IS PRODUCTIVE. And thus, I shall focus my non-homeworking energy all on… doing whatever I was doing before.
..Another circle post, I guess. But the main thing now is that I will be online less, and thus will have less links, post less often (maybe), and appear for shorter periods of time on Twitter. D:
Anyways, links for today…!
